About me and my experience
I qualified as a therapist and counsellor in 1999.
I began training as a therapist in 1993 with a one year Counselling course.
In 1996 I undertook a three year residential Diploma course in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy with the 'Institute for Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy' which was accredited by the BACP.
In 2007 I trained as a Supervisor with 'Psychology Matters' and since then have given professional counselling supervision to other counsellors and psychotherapists, and trainees.
I have continued to develop my work as a therapist by attending (and sometimes organising) professional conferences, groups and workshops in the UK and USA, as well as having several papers and book chapters published.
Alongside my work as a therapist I have always worked with services offering help to people with specific problems. I worked with drug and alcohol users for over 20years and set up and ran non-judgemental services for people who used drugs and alcohol and who wanted help in this, or other areas of their lives.
I currently work in the NHS, leading a specialist social care team for people with certain specific health problems, offering help in the non medical areas of their lives.
I am interested in people and their lives and offer compassionate, non discriminatory, understanding. I am dedicated to my work as a therapist and believe that everyone has the right to a high standard of therapy.
